Re: What is Logic?
Now, given that everything has a beginning, and so is an effect, would it not be reasonable to say that its causes must be continuously present, so long as the thing (effect) persists? No. Let us say that one of my parents dies. By your words, this event must have a mortal effect on my person, and ...

Re: Forget about Enlightenment
Talking about enlightenment is like trying to explain sex to virgins. I could unleash a graphic and very useful description here, to enlighten you how it is that one could explain exactly what is involved in the act of sexual intercourse to virgins, but it suffices for me to remind you that talking...

Re: How to PROVE GOD EXISTS?
In the example where each step towards the wall is half the remaining distance, each step is a non-zero, finite distance. So the problem is essentially the same. Xeno's paradox is nonsense, unless you believe that matter may be split infinitely small. Edward Lear dealt with this eventuality quite n...

Unlike other mandala, the complete ancient flower of life has no design, measurement or straight lines . http://webjapanese.com/kanji/file/images02/500.gif This is the kanji for "impose", "assign" or "section". It requires straight lines. How would I go about finding th...

Diogenes was making a joke, and a statement about language. If Socrates is a madman, as Diogenes said, and if Diogenes is a Socrates gone mad, as Plato said, then Diogenes is a madman gone mad, which is redundant.

Re: Isn't death more wonderful than life!
It is my opinion that the bounded mind is much more likely to postulate an unbounded universe, as the bounded mind thinks in three dimensions. Your argument is invalid against the type of finite universe that I am detailing here, as the curvature does not exist in three dimensions, but in four. As t...

Re: Creation of a true artificial intelligence?
You are incorrect in assuming that the first neural network modeled on a computer was done so in the 90's.
As the Wikipedia article I linked says, the first neural network to be physically instantiated was a perceptron, in the 1950's.

I think the very act of you suggesting a different avenue of inquiry proves that "you" as an individual are being influenced by your own reasoning rather than blindly believing or following what is being suggested to you by someone else. One always has the choice to ignore or disagree, or...

I apologize; I did not mean to sound impatient. I was directing my question to Dan, primarily. I asked because I do not intend to be a permanent visitor to this forum, but will check it if it is still understood that I am an active member of a particular discussion.

You make too many quotes taken from the nonsensical science that I have spent years avoiding. A message passes itself along does not make sense. A photon experiences no friction is the reverse of what matters. Scolding me would be difficult being as you are just quoting information that you have re...

Re: Creation of a true artificial intelligence?
Nothing can move totally analogue because you cannot infinately half the distance of a movement. So the smallest particle cannot move half the distance of the aether, else the aether would need another aether, and that is a Paradox. So there are tiny steps to everything in the physical universe. So...

There can be no real boundary... beyond the linear mind-wall... nothingness... which means space without limit. Easy really... once linear thinking is transcended. My point about vacuums with boundaries is that "nothingness" is not necessarily space without limit. The fact that space is m...

Re: To David Quinn: two worries
No, there is a bit more to it than simply engaging in a new false imagining. Enlightenment is the result of abandoning all false imaginings. It means realizing our true nature, which has always been with us, and this only comes about by dismantling all of our false imaginings of ourselves. Then the...
