"Would you perhaps consider adding Thomas Jefferson to list of geniuses?" ZMD Well, they let me in. So they don't seem too particular. Tell this Jefferson fellow if he wants in, to just start posting. If his cyber-company becomes objectionable, I'm sure the Mods. (if any) and the Admin. c...

Thomas Jefferson

Dear site moderators, Would you perhaps consider adding Thomas Jefferson to list of geniuses? Here is a link to site with fragments of his writings. It appears that he was able to see past the limited knowledge of his time and see a much larger picture. http://etext.virginia.edu/jefferson/quotations...

Re: Is this how it seems to you?

So you're saying that women aren't really oppressed like they want everyone to think? I mean I think this little comic illustrates a lot of what is wrong with relationship dynamics in general. It's not about love or anything, it's about a game and control, language games.

Re: What is a douchebag?

The problem is not redefining per se. The problem is equivocation over different definitions -- and redefining for the purpose of enabling such equivocations. This is why you folks get accused of trying to win through redefinition. This makes sense. It's like playing a game that already has rules -...

What is the difference between universal and general? They are defined using the same words...They mean the same thing.

Re: Original Thinking

You can tie all these together with absolute truths. Truths that apply to all things. Learn how to generalise. . Thats really excellent advise in my view.I often give that to other people who are having trouble focussing. And often say it to myself, when I am having trouble. It's information overload...

Re: Caffeine=Melange or "The Spice"??

No, melange wouldn't have meant anything like caffeine. Melange had some kind of psychedelic properties, if you remember. The Space Cadets or whatever they called them used it to enhance their navigational skills. The Fremen used it as some kind of group bonding experience. Wasn't there was a scene...

What is a douchebag?

A douchebag is someone who refuses to admit they were wrong, mostly to themselves. It is someone who is afraid to admit they do not know what they are talking about because they do not know the history of a thing. Any further definitions from anyone?

Caffeine=Melange or "The Spice"??

I've been drinking a lot of caffeinated stuff like soda and coffee recently, but today I didn't have a chance to have any. The day started off ok until about 1:00. I started getting a headache at first and almost didn't go to class, which afterwards I wish I hadn't. Anyway, during my first class I c...

Actually mister rowden, now that i think about it, you aren't correct. The first sentence was not a continuity error at all. There was, in fact, not much known about the species. Not that they were mysterious: it's just that they only have two databanks worth of information and everything else is h...

I am particulary interested in Colour at the moment. I feel that colour information has a hidden particle, or somehow uses the quark. It's not really a known concept, but I don't think I believe any known concepts at the moment. Have you heard of Goethe's Theory of Colours. I haven't read it, but a...

I just want to make clear that I am not a "PoMo", whatever that is and however someone is I don't know. As to postmodernism being contradictory, modernism is a specific time in human history, very recent, that had specific goals and principles. Now that we seem to be emerging from those, p...

That's the answer, dude. It works equally well in both capacities. :) Wait till I analyze social struggle using quantum mechanics!
